Bellevue man pleads guilty to killing his stepdaughter

PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) — A 37-year-old Bellevue man has made a deal with prosecutors and admitted fatally shooting his stepdaughter on the front porch of her mother's home.

In Sarpy County District Court in Papillion on Monday, Michael Williams pleaded guilty to first-degree murder after prosecutors dropped a weapons charge.

Prosecutors say Williams gunned down 21-year-old Michala Pomfret on April 10. She died two days later.

Williams' attorney says Williams tried to kill himself within days of shooting Pomfret.

Williams is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 14.
