Council Bluffs stadium, preschool programs get Iowa West Foundation funding

Two dozen projects in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska will be funded in part with grants from the Iowa West Foundation.

The $7.6 million in grants include a million dollars toward the $15.2 million Council Bluffs Community School District stadium campaign, and $1.1 million for preschool programs.

Iowa West president and CEO Pete Tulipana says education is one of the foundation’s four priority areas for support.

"We think we have tremendous leadership in our school districts here and in the county. And we’re also very committed as a Foundation to creating opportunities for our young people post-secondary education. We know all the jobs of the future are going to require some kind of post-secondary education."

The other areas of focus are economic development, placemaking, and healthy families.

Other supported projects include the new season of Ballet Nebraska, and a Food Bank for the Heartland program for children.
