MAPA seeks public input on 2050 LRTP

Tonight, the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency is holding a public meeting to gather input for its 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan.

Michael Felschow, Program Manager, says those attending will each receive a map that they can write on to rank the corridors they are most interested in as first, second and third.

He says there are 16 total corridors in the plan going east, west, north and south.

Felschow says these include all the major ones like I-80, West Center, Maple and 72nd Street.  He says the public will also be asked how they use the corridors and how they would like to be able to use them.

"Do they use a car on these corridors?  Would they like to use transit on these corridors?  Would they like to use bike/ped on these corridors? That will allow us to identify the types of projects that will meet the needs of the community while also keeping us highly mobile and economically fit.”

Tonight’s meeting takes place at the South Omaha Public Library from 6-8 p.m.  A complete list of meetings is available at mapacog.org/calendar/news.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting, may take the survey online attinyurl.com/2050-roadway-survey.
