Nebraska's net tax receipts meet projections in October

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska collected $233 million in net tax revenue in October, right on par with projections.

The Nebraska Department of Revenue released its latest tax receipt numbers on Thursday. Net sales-and-use taxes, individual income taxes, corporate income taxes and miscellaneous taxes all matched the forecast.

The numbers matched because the forecast was updated on Oct. 28. The Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board revised its forecast for the current fiscal year downward by $172 million, projecting that the state would collect roughly $4.4 billion.

Nebraska lawmakers and Gov. Pete Ricketts will face a projected budget shortfall of more than $900 million when they convene in January to craft a new two-year state budget.
