Omaha Police Warn Of OPPD Phone Scam

Sep 30, 2019

(Omaha, NE)  --  Omaha police are warning residents about a scam phone call involving the Omaha Public Power District.  Police say scammers send out a call that looks like the utility's toll free number and demand people pay for overdue bills.  Police say scammers have also told people their automatic bill pay is messed up and if they don't pay their bills they'll lose service.  OPPD says they'll never ask for payment on a cold-call over the phone.
