Omaha Symphony Presents “Masterworks”- Brahm's Symphony No. 1, Susanna Perry Gilmore Discusses

Omaha Symphony presents another installment of their Masterworks series, Brahm's Symphony No. 1.

You’ll feel like you’ve gone to New York City with the strutting strings, powerful brass, and wicked rhythms in Bernstein’s opening Three Dance Episodes from On the Town!  Concertmaster Susanna Perry Gilmore (“Luminous and hypnotic.” – The Omaha World-Herald) will then whisk you off to Scotland with Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, with romantic and popular tunes that spin out beautiful songs and virtuosic showcases.  Brahms makes his symphonic debut with the thunderous, resounding Symphony No. 1, a stormy work that gives way to a radiant, triumphant finale.

Concertmaster Susanna Perry Gilmore checks into the studios at 33rd and Burt to chat with Mike Hogan about the program and how she has approached the music, both fifteen years ago when she first played it and today when she has tackled it again.

The performances are at the Holland Center both February 21st and 22nd.  More information can be found at https://www.omahasymphony.org/concerts/brahms-symphony-no-1
