Public meetings set on social studies standards

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The State Board of Education and the Nebraska Department of Education will hold public meetings from five cities around the state to discuss social studies standards.

Individuals who want to comment on the revised standards are invited to do so via video beginning at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday at sites in Kearney, Lincoln, La Vista, Scottsbluff and Wakefield.

The meetings will be available for viewing only by live streaming from a link on the Nebraska Department of Education's website at www.education.ne.gov .

The department's online survey regarding the revised standards will remain open until Nov. 28.

The State Board of Education is scheduled to consider final approval of the revised social studies standards on Dec. 7.
