Rick Erben's Jazz Junction To End August 29

Rick Erben, the long serving host of Jazz Junction is closing up shop after Saturday August 29. This month marks 30 years of volunteer hosting of jazz on KIOS for Rick and he has decided to step aside and enjoy his Saturdays away from the studio.

Rick began hosting Jazz Junction in 1990 on Thursday afternoons on KIOS having come from Cheyenne, Wyoming where he hosted jazz on KUWR at theUniversity of Wyoming. His personal style made it sound like he was sitting in your living room playing records for you. His passion for jazz and deep knowledge of it's history made his shows a must listen for jazz aficionados and newcomers alike.

Eventually Jazz Junction would make it's home on Saturday nights at 9:00 for two hours and would expand to three hours in 2013. It ended up being the longest running program ever produced at KIOS making it to 30 years. Rick always presented high quality music from classic sounds of the past to today's new releases.

All of us at KIOS wish Rick all the best and thank him not only for making a major contribution to our programming, but to the cultural life of our city for 30 years. Well done Rick!
