Omaha, NE – Official results from Omaha's Mayoral recall election show Mayor Jim Suttle won by 2,295 votes.
The results were certified Friday, ten days after the election. Suttle was elected Mayor in 2009. Voter turnout for that contest was 31 percent. 34 percent of Omaha voters voted in the recall election.
Election Commissioner Dave Phipps says it was a challenge for his office to prepare for the recall election. They didn't have an estimate of how many early voting ballots would be needed or how many people might vote. Omaha has held only one previous recall election, in 1987.
Suttle's term ends in 2013. He hasn't yet announced whether he'll seek another term.
