Omaha, NE – Voters in the Millard Public Schools district will vote on a $137.6 million dollar bond proposal.
If voters approve the borrowing measure, it'll be Millard's first bond issuance since 2005. Millard Public Schools spokeswoman Amy Friedman says the money would be used for several projects, including security upgrades. "We would add high-resolution surveillance cameras that would work with buzzer systems and electronic door locks, and also alarm notification of intrusions to the building perimeter, all of that would enhance security."
Other plans include HVAC and lighting efficiency upgrades, roof repairs, and additions to the district's fastest-growing schools.
The special election will be held via mail-in ballot. Those ballots are due to the election commissioner by November 15th.
If the bond issue passes, Friedman says the security upgrades will begin right away.
