Omaha, NE – Omaha's Dundee-Memorial Park neighborhood was named one of the nation's 10 best neighborhoods in America by the American Planning Association.
Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle says the Dundee-Memorial Park neighborhood was built at the end of a streetcar line in the early 20th century. He says the APA selected the neighborhood as one of the 10 best based on several factors, including the quality of the housing and what they've done to keep their neighborhoods strong.
"They have a strong structure in their association. They have over 200 of the hanging baskets. They maintain the old decorative streetlights. Now you've got the business district. The business industry is strong. I think there's one vacancy in the commercial area there at 50th and Underwood."
Through its Great Places in America honor, the APA recognizes unique and exemplary streets, neighborhoods and public places.
