Omaha, Nebraska – Last Call's artist spotlight this month shines on Dwight Trible, whose latest recording, Cosmic, is one of the top recordings of 2011. Trible's latest disc is an experience of spiritual jazz and is a compelling introduction to this artist worthy of much wider recognition. Trible's work includes a stint with Pharaoh Sanders in addition to recording with Babatunde Lea on the brilliant effort Umbo Weti. Tirble has worked with such notables as Oscar Brown Jr., Bobby Hutcherson, Charles Lloyd, Billy Childs, Kenny Burrell, Harold Land, and Harry Belafonte. Dwight's collaborations with Horace Tapscott, Billy Higgins, Kamau Daaood and others have been acclaimed by Los Angeles jazz fans. Dwight's music, expressed during the last 10 years on a series of brilliant recordings, is infused with a love that washes away the worldly soap opera with a gentle cleansing of sacred devotion. It is a wonderful experience for the holidays. Last Call host Chris Cooke recently spoke with Dwight Trible. In a wide-ranging interview, Trible discussed his influences, inspirations and artistry.
