Fighting for the Good Life: Nebraskans and the Great War is the name of an exhibit the Durham Museum is putting together for the fall of 2018, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.
Jessica Brummer, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the Museum, says between now and November 17th they are crowdsourcing the public for WWI objects they might be willing to loan for the exhibit. She says everyone will be notified by January 1, 2018 whether their object will be included.
Brummer says these objects will be displayed in a manner similar to those in their 1970’s exhibit.
“So the object will be displayed with a description of what it is and then also the name of the person loaning it to us. So, all of these things are loans, they will all be returned back to the person lending them to us – we’re just asking, maybe could be put some of these objects on display for the exhibit.”
Brummer says they are seeking artifacts such as letters, photographs uniforms, journals, propaganda posters, and souvenirs from other countries. She says the best way to submit is to e-mail a brief description, along with your contact information, to ww1@durhammuseum.org.
