KIOS Profiles: Pioneering Cats and Early Baseball

Composite of photos from Stuhr Museum, The Archway, the Mormon Trail Center, and Pickles Vanderbilt.

We visit the Nebraska State Historical Society to learn of an enterprising Catrepreneur and early baseball in Nebraska.

Special thanks to Matt Piersol for finding and sharing these stories with us during our visit to the NSHS site at 1500 R Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.

David first started broadcasting at his hometown radio station in Holdrege, Nebraska while still in high school. He went on to earn journalism and law degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, served as an officer in the U.S. Army, and has worked for radio and television stations across the United States. He is a big advocate for community media and loves being a part of the local fabric of NPR. He also has a cat, Pickles.
