Mike Jacobs has been with KIOS since 1988 while attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Mike began his career at KIOS working weekends as local host for NPR’s Weekend Edition.  He also hosted Morning Edition from 1990-1996. 

Mike began hosting the weekly blues program “Blues in the Afternoon” in October 1994 and took on the responsibilities of jazz programming and maintaining the music library in 1996. He has held the position of Music Director since 2002. In addition to hosting “Jazz in the Afternoon” on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Mike took the time out of his busy schedule to celebrate KIOS’ 50th birthday and chat with Mike Hogan "Live & Local" about the early days, the technology changes, and what KIOS has meant to him.

Tuesday on Jazz in the Afternoon, Chris Cooke welcomes special guest trumpeter Arturo Sandoval for conversation about his latest tour "Dear Diz," a tribute to Dizzy Gillespie. 

Kate Voss and Jason Goessl form the Vintage Jazz Duo "Sundae and Mr. Goessl."  They stop by the KIOS-FM studios to chat with Mike Hogan about their new album, how they met, and marriage...To each other!

Join us for the December edition of Jazz From Studio One Thursday night at 8:00 PM as we present some of the notable recordings of 2017.

Two new voices will take over the hosting duties on the Jazz Network heard weeknights at 9:00PM beginning Tuesday June 13.

The Jazz Heritage Series featuring the United States Air Force Band Airmen of Note with special guests will air on three consecutive afternoons May 24-26 at 2 p.m.

Jazz From Studio One will return to KIOS as a once a month jazz special beginning Thursday night at 8:00.

For the best in jazz, past and present, classic albums, hidden gems and more, tune in to Jazz with Greg Bridges. It's a musical journey through the entire history of jazz you won't want to miss.

  

KIOS adds another new show to the schedule with Latin Perspective, hosted by Tony  Vasquez. It will debut tonight at 8:00PM.

KIOS will be changing its jazz program schedule in January.

Public Radio International is ending production of Riverwalk Jazz at the end of December after a 25 year run. The final broadcast on KIOS will be Saturday, December 26.

Legendary jazz pianist and composer Ramsey Lewis will be interviewed by Chris Cooke on Thursday's Jazz In The Afternoon, between 1:00-3:00 PM.

A podcast of the interview will be available late Thursday afternoon or early evening on our web site, www.kios.org.

Lewis is appearing Friday in Omaha at the Holland Performing Arts Center, with special guest Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire.
